Jester Commons Dining Renovation

Jester Commons Dining Renovation

Overview

Jester Commons (which houses “J2” Dining) includes three retail dining venues, a market, and a coffee shop/bakery, as well as the second largest dining facility on campus. In addition, the commons has classrooms, offices, and student organization headquarters. Pfluger worked with the Division of Housing and Food Services to overhaul these spaces, which hadn’t been improved in more than two decades. The 85,000 SF project was phased over 30 months to allow the facility to remain operational throughout construction. All dining, kitchen and serving areas were completely replaced and all new equipment was installed. The MEP design included all components throughout the space, as well as new air handler units and make up air units. The Pfluger team worked directly with the University’s representatives and representatives from Food Service to deliver this efficient, cost-effective project. Jester Commons is the most heavily populated and visited location on campus any given day.
